Public Safety
Public safety is the most fundamental responsibility of local government. As your City Council representative for District 2, Peter Molinari will ensure that Mission Viejo's police officers and firefighters have the resources, equipment, and support they need to keep our neighborhoods safe.
My Position on Public Safety
The primary purpose of local government is to protect its residents. Peter Molinari believes that public safety must always come first in Mission Viejo's budget and planning decisions. Our men and women in uniform are brave and determined to keep us safe, and we need to give them the support they need to do their jobs effectively.
Mission Viejo is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in America, and that is not by accident. It is the result of sustained investment in our police and fire services, community policing programs, and the dedication of our first responders. Peter will fight to maintain that standard of excellence.
As a fiscal conservative, Peter knows that every dollar matters. But public safety is not an area where we can afford to cut corners. Adequate staffing, modern equipment, and ongoing training are investments that pay dividends in lives saved and crimes prevented.
What I've Accomplished
Serving on the Mission Viejo Planning and Transportation Commission since 2021, Peter has been a consistent advocate for public safety infrastructure. His most significant accomplishment was voting to rebuild OCFA Fire Station 24 into the best fire facility in Orange County. This critical infrastructure investment ensures that Mission Viejo families and businesses have the fire protection they deserve.
During his tenure as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Commission, Peter reviewed and approved development projects with a keen eye on public safety impacts. He has consistently demanded that new developments include adequate fire access, emergency evacuation routes, and safety infrastructure before granting approval.
Peter has also supported budget allocations that maintain police staffing levels and ensure our sheriff's deputies have the tools and technology they need to serve the Mission Viejo community effectively.
Future Goals for Mission Viejo Public Safety
As your District 2 City Council member, Peter will work to:
Maintain and strengthen Mission Viejo's position as one of the safest cities in Orange County. This means ensuring our police and fire departments are fully staffed and properly equipped.
Invest in emergency preparedness and disaster response. Mission Viejo residents need to know that their city is ready for wildfires, earthquakes, and other emergencies that can impact our community.
Support community policing programs that build trust between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve. When deputies know the community and residents know their deputies, everyone benefits.
Ensure that all new development projects are reviewed for public safety impacts before approval. Peter will continue to demand adequate fire access, emergency evacuation routes, and safety infrastructure in every project that comes before the City.
Advocate for the ongoing modernization of our public safety equipment and technology, so that Mission Viejo first responders always have the best tools available.
Community Benefits
Strong public safety benefits every Mission Viejo resident. Safe neighborhoods protect our families, support our property values, and make our city a place where businesses want to invest and families want to put down roots.
When Mission Viejo is safe, our parks are places where children can play freely. Our schools are secure learning environments. Our commercial districts are welcoming spaces for shopping and dining. And our neighborhoods are communities where neighbors look out for one another.
Peter Molinari is committed to keeping Mission Viejo safe — not just for today, but for the next generation of residents who will call our city home.
