Transportation & Traffic

Getting around Mission Viejo safely and efficiently is essential to our quality of life. As a member of the Planning and Transportation Commission, Peter Molinari has been making transportation decisions for our city and understands the challenges we face with traffic, road maintenance, and transportation infrastructure.

My Position on Transportation

Transportation infrastructure is the connective tissue of our community. Mission Viejo's roads, intersections, and pathways determine how safely and efficiently our residents can get to work, school, shopping, and recreation. Peter Molinari believes that maintaining and improving our transportation infrastructure must be a continuing priority.

Mission Viejo's location in south Orange County means our residents rely heavily on major arterials like Alicia Parkway, Marguerite Parkway, and Crown Valley Parkway. Keeping these corridors flowing smoothly is essential to reducing congestion and improving daily life for Mission Viejo families.

Peter also supports a balanced transportation system that includes safe options for walking and biking, not just driving. Complete streets that serve all users — drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists — create a safer, healthier, and more connected community.

What I've Accomplished

As a member of the Mission Viejo Planning and Transportation Commission since 2021, Peter has been directly involved in transportation planning decisions for our city. He has reviewed and approved transportation impact analyses for development projects, ensuring that new development does not unduly burden our road network.

Peter has supported road improvement projects, intersection enhancements, and traffic calming measures that improve safety and reduce congestion in Mission Viejo neighborhoods. He understands the importance of maintaining our existing infrastructure while planning for future needs.

During his tenure as Chairman of the Commission, Peter has overseen transportation elements of the City's planning process, helping to shape policies that guide how Mission Viejo manages traffic and transportation for years to come.

Future Goals for Mission Viejo Transportation

As your District 2 City Council member, Peter will work to:

Improve traffic flow on Mission Viejo's major corridors. This includes targeted intersection improvements, signal timing optimization, and strategic road improvements that reduce congestion where it matters most.

Maintain and repair our existing roads. Potholes and deteriorating pavement are not just inconvenient — they damage vehicles and reduce safety. Peter will prioritize road maintenance in the city budget.

Improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Mission Viejo should have safe crossings, connected bike lanes, and walkable neighborhoods where families can get around without always relying on a car.

Ensure new development pays its fair share for transportation impacts. Developers should fund the road improvements their projects require, not existing residents.

Support regional transportation solutions that benefit Mission Viejo. Peter will work with neighboring cities and county agencies to address traffic issues that cross city boundaries.

Community Benefits

Better transportation benefits every Mission Viejo resident. Less congestion means more time with family, less stress, and cleaner air. Well-maintained roads mean lower vehicle repair costs and safer driving conditions. And safe options for walking and biking promote health and reduce our dependence on cars.

Transportation improvements also support our local economy. When customers can easily access Mission Viejo's commercial districts, businesses thrive. When employees can get to work without long delays, productivity improves. And when our city is accessible and connected, property values remain strong.

Peter Molinari's experience on the Planning and Transportation Commission gives him the knowledge and perspective to make smart transportation decisions for Mission Viejo's future.
