Local Business Support
Small businesses are the backbone of Mission Viejo's economy. They create jobs, generate tax revenue, and give our city its unique character. Peter Molinari, a small business owner himself, understands what it takes to run a business and will be a champion for Mission Viejo's local business community.
My Position on Local Business
Peter Molinari is a fiscal conservative who believes in logical, common-sense government that is focused on helping, not hurting, our residents and local businesses. He believes in thoughtful growth, strategic investment, and balanced budgets.
Mission Viejo's small businesses — from restaurants and retail shops to professional services and home-based businesses — are essential to our local economy. They provide jobs for our residents, generate sales tax revenue that funds city services, and create the vibrant commercial districts that make Mission Viejo a great place to live and visit.
Government should be a partner to local businesses, not an obstacle. Peter believes in streamlining permitting, reducing unnecessary regulations, and creating a business-friendly environment that encourages entrepreneurship and investment in Mission Viejo.
What I've Accomplished
As a small business owner, Peter has firsthand experience with the challenges of running a business in California. He understands the regulatory burden, the tax pressures, and the day-to-day realities of meeting payroll, serving customers, and navigating government requirements.
On the Planning and Transportation Commission, Peter has supported projects that bring quality businesses to Mission Viejo. He has advocated for commercial development that enhances our city's economic vitality while maintaining the character of our neighborhoods.
Peter has also been an active supporter of Mission Viejo's business community through his involvement with local organizations. He regularly visits local restaurants and shops, participates in community events like the Rotary Chili Cookoff, and understands that a strong local economy benefits every resident.
Future Goals for Mission Viejo Businesses
As your District 2 City Council member, Peter will work to:
Streamline the permitting process for new and existing businesses. Mission Viejo should be known as a city where businesses can open and grow without unnecessary bureaucratic delays.
Support Mission Viejo's commercial districts with strategic investments and improvements. Our shopping centers and business corridors should be attractive, accessible, and welcoming to customers.
Advocate for policies that attract quality businesses to Mission Viejo. Peter wants our city to be the first choice for businesses looking to locate in south Orange County.
Reduce unnecessary regulations that burden small businesses while maintaining appropriate standards for safety and quality. Government should focus on helping businesses succeed, not creating obstacles.
Support local business events and promotions that drive customers to Mission Viejo shops and restaurants. A thriving local business community benefits every resident through jobs, tax revenue, and a vibrant city.
Community Benefits
A strong local business community benefits every Mission Viejo resident. Local businesses create jobs for our residents, generate tax revenue that funds city services, and provide the goods and services we need close to home.
When Mission Viejo businesses succeed, our city succeeds. Sales tax revenue from local businesses funds our parks, our public safety, and our city services. Quality businesses enhance our quality of life by providing dining, shopping, and service options that make Mission Viejo a more enjoyable place to live.
Peter Molinari's combination of business experience and public service gives him the unique ability to understand both the needs of local businesses and the role of government in supporting a thriving economy. That is the perspective he will bring to the City Council.
